Die Forschung an weicher Materie ist von Natur aus interdisziplin\u00e4r und verbindet Physik, numerische Mathematik, Chemie, Materialwissenschaften und Biologie. Weiche Materialien begegnen uns \u00fcberall &#8211; von Seife und Kunststoffen bis hin zu Gummi und lebendem Gewebe &#8211; und ihr Verhalten wird oft st\u00e4rker durch subtile kollektive Effekte bestimmt als von den  Eigenschaften einzelner Molek\u00fcle. Die Frage, wie sich solche Materialien organisieren, auf Stimuli reagieren,  und zeitlich entwickeln, ist nicht nur wissenschaftlich faszinierend. Antworten darauf zu finden ist auch entscheidend f\u00fcr die Entwicklung neuer Materialien und Technologien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">Wir interessieren und besonders f\u00fcr weiche Grenzfl\u00e4chen inklusive Membranen, sowie auf Strukturbildung in polymeren und suprapolymeren Materialien im Gleichgewicht und Nicht-Gleichgewicht. Unsere Arbeit zielt darauf ab, systematische Verbindungen zwischen mikroskopischen Wechselwirkungen und mesoskaliger Organisation herzustellen. Sie erhielt ihr Diplom in Physik 1989 an der LMU  (Betreuer: Johann Peisl), promovierte 1991 an der JGU (Betreuer: Kurt Binder) und habilitierte sich in theoretischer Physik an der JGU im Jahr 1997. Im Jahr 2000 wurde sie als Juniorgruppenleiterin (C3-Ebene) an das Max-Planck-Institut f\u00fcr Polymerwissenschaften berufen, dann als Professorin (C4) an die Universit\u00e4t Bielefeld. Im Jahr 2009 wechselte sie nach Mainz, um den Lehrstuhl f\u00fcr &#8222;Statistische Physik und Theorie der weichen Materie&#8220; zu \u00fcbernehmen. Seit 2026 ist sie RMU Co-affiliiert mit der TU Darmstadt. \/-->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">Wir erforschen die statistische Physik komplexer Materialien, mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf weicher Materie und biologisch inspirierten Systemen. Die Forschung an weicher Materie ist von Natur aus interdisziplin\u00e4r und verbindet Physik, numerische Mathematik, Chemie, Materialwissenschaften und Biologie. Weiche Materialien begegnen uns \u00fcberall - von Seife und Kunststoffen bis hin zu Gummi und lebendem Gewebe - und ihr Verhalten wird oft st\u00e4rker durch subtile kollektive Effekte bestimmt als von den  Eigenschaften einzelner Molek\u00fcle. Die Frage, wie sich solche Materialien organisieren, auf Stimuli reagieren,  und zeitlich entwickeln, ist nicht nur wissenschaftlich faszinierend. Antworten darauf zu finden ist auch entscheidend f\u00fcr die Entwicklung neuer Materialien und Technologien.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p class=\"has-big-font-size\">Wir interessieren und besonders f\u00fcr weiche Grenzfl\u00e4chen inklusive Membranen, sowie auf Strukturbildung in polymeren und suprapolymeren Materialien im Gleichgewicht und Nicht-Gleichgewicht. Unsere Arbeit zielt darauf ab, systematische Verbindungen zwischen mikroskopischen Wechselwirkungen und mesoskaliger Organisation herzustellen. Sie erhielt ihr Diplom in Physik 1989 an der LMU  (Betreuer: Johann Peisl), promovierte 1991 an der JGU (Betreuer: Kurt Binder) und habilitierte sich in theoretischer Physik an der JGU im Jahr 1997. Im Jahr 2000 wurde sie als Juniorgruppenleiterin (C3-Ebene) an das Max-Planck-Institut f\u00fcr Polymerwissenschaften berufen, dann als Professorin (C4) an die Universit\u00e4t Bielefeld. Im Jahr 2009 wechselte sie nach Mainz, um den Lehrstuhl f\u00fcr \"Statistische Physik und Theorie der weichen Materie\" zu \u00fcbernehmen. Seit 2026 ist sie RMU Co-affiliiert mit der TU Darmstadt.
